The purpose behind Generational Equity’s sponsorship of the podcast really comes down to one key idea that relates to both baseball and business: the importance of statistics.

“What makes baseball such a unique and treasured component of the fabric of America is the connection from one generation to another created by statistics,” said Generational Equity president Ryan Binkley. “Baseball fans love to discuss and debate players and their statistics, and the rich history of the game provides something relatable across generational lines.”

“We see a parallel in terms of how we use statistics to accurately evaluate businesses,” Binkley continued. “The importance of a statistic is not the number itself, but rather what the number means and how a series of statistics can help to create an overall picture of a company’s value, similarly to how statistics tell the value of a player.”

As part of Generational Equity’s sponsorship of the season-long podcast, we are empowering Midwest Sports Fans to award an iPad and a 2012 MLB.tv subscription to one grand prize winner. Details about how to participate are available here, and we absolutely encourage any and all baseball fans to take part.

The first guest on the podcast is Ken Rosenthal, the senior baseball writer for FOX Sports and a frequent analyst on the MLB Network. Rosenthal joined hosts Jerod Morris and Ari Kaufman to discuss various baseball topics and try his hand at five fun, challenging trivia questions about our national pastime.

In closing, here is an assortment of relevant information regarding the schedule for the MLB Trivia Challenge sponsored by Generational Equity, as well as the best way to track new episodes:
